Swooncation
Hello lovers! Last Friday, I participated in The Best of Summer Series 2012 as a Guest Poster for Victoria over at Vmac and Cheese and shared my engagement proposal story. Blue Ribbon proposal, Bella, and big smiles… My husband’s proposal leaves me swooning to this day.
A few hours before M proposed, we were flying back to JFK from Cancun. We had just finished up our summer vacation relaxing under the Mexico sun at Le Blanc Resort. It was an absolutely wonderful vacation and perfect build up to the proposal he had planned. As first time Le Blanc guests, we didn’t feel like we were even in Cancun. The modern, sleek hotel is a five-star, adults only oasis in a city that is primarily known for partying. The decor is simple but had a similar chic, all white style to The Delano in Miami. “Spa Resort” is in their name and they most definitely live up to it. When I wasn’t in the spa, M and I were relaxing at the beach, eating at one of their 6 restaurants, or zip lining through the jungle.
Main Pool (one of 3)
Me in mid-drop as I zip lined into a cenote. Note: M is not far away from where I let go. Not sure why I look like I’m trying to fly?
One evening, M surprised me with a private beach dinner. Not shown in the photo is a saxophonist that serenaded us during appetizers and the hotel guests taking pictures from their windows. I thought he was going to propose (as did guests and staff), and he says looking back it would of been the perfect opportunity. However, I prefer the proposal he planned for me that took place just a few nights later in NY.
My favorite photo from the trip, taken just a day before he proposed.
On the last evening of our trip, we witnessed a green sea turtle laying eggs on the beach. It was absolutely amazing to watch. The turtle was about 5 feet long. You are told not to take pictures, so we woke up at sunrise the next day to see if there were any tracks from the night before.
Thank you for allowing me to reminisce on the vacation that preceded our engagement almost 3 years ago. Reliving vacations and special memories is one of my tips for living a happily ever after.
Do you take time to go back through vacation pics and relive them with your sweetheart?
